Use Your Friend With A Camera Or Hire A Professional Wedding Photographer?

Why is having a friend photograph your wedding possibly the worst wedding decision you could make?

After the wedding is over all you have are the pictures if they are not what you want you can never redo that day. Having a friend with a good camera who thinks they are photographer is like having a friend with a grand piano that took a few music lessons that thinks they are a concert pianist.

It takes years to perfect the craft of wedding photography and then most good photographers assist an experienced wedding photographer for at least 50 weddings after there college training before they venture out on their own. If you have a friend who is giving you a discount because the have a camera and want to be a wedding photographer your probably getting your moneys worth.

This is also a good way to loose a friend. Is this person also a guest at your wedding are you going to let them drink at your wedding? How will it affect your friendship if the pictures you have to look at for the next 50 years are horrible?

What recourse do you have except to loose a friend and you know what they say about not putting a price on friendship.

If this person was truly a photographer and a friend they would tell you to hire an experienced professional.
