Rock the Dress? Trash the Dress?
You may have noticed something unusual and interesting mixed into all the traditionally posed photos and stunningly gorgeous wedding photography you've seen in magazines lately - they call it "Rock the Dress" or "Trash The Dress" wedding photography - and it's hot!
Word on the street is that this trend is straight out of Vegas baby, while others insist it's an import like the British rock invasion of the sixties. But whether it's a home grown idea or a continental style statement, one thing's for sure - it's a smokin' hot wedding photography trend that adds some serious spice to the traditional photo package.
Rock The Dress? Trash the Dress? Is that what it sounds like? Yes, it's exactly what it sounds like! After the ceremony and all the festivities are done you slip into that beautiful dress one last time for a little photographic mischief making. The idea is to rock that dress one last time in a location that presents a contrast to its beauty, formality, and design - a lakeside dock, a city street, a rooftop, or even the ocean. The wilder the better - fields, alleys, abandoned buildings - go for it.
You can rock it with attitude like you're doing a high concept shoot for French Vogue or trash it like a rock diva doing promos for your next music video - whether you ruin it by getting it wet, dirty, or tearing it up, or just stand in the water looking gorgeous in it the photos of you "Rocking" or "Trashing" will be memorable.
Whether you "Rock The Dress" like a supermodel or "Trash The Dress" like a performance artist the shoot is typically done as an additional shoot after the wedding, almost as a declaration that the wedding ceremony, and all the pomp and circumstance is done, and the dress will not be used again. An alternative to storing the dress away, never to be seen again - it's definitely not for everyone. Are you Bold enough to rock the dress?
